May Special

soil-pep natures_rx

Buy 2 bags of Soil Pep and get 1 bag of Nature’s Prescription FREE.  That’s almost an $8 savings!

Two of our newest products at the greenhouse, Soil Pep and Nature’s Prescription are soil additives for your garden.  Spread the combination on your garden according to the directions and till into the soil.

Soil Pep is an excellent mulch and when tilled into the soil will help improve soil structure, helps with water retention and helps aerate the soil.

Nature’s Prescription provides beneficial microbial activity which promotes healing and prevents spread of fungal diseases and damage.  It also reduces water requirements and improves plant hardiness for environmental and drought stress, two things our plants here in the panhandle of western Nebraska struggle with every year!

Add this dynamic duo to your garden soil this year at a GREAT introductory SAVINGS!

Pesticide and ADHD in children: Links to studies and articles

Organic food is a way of life for us at Ricky and Lucy’s Greenhouse.  We believe in it.  We believe in the great value of eating organically and avoiding harsh chemicals in our food.  When we come across something like this we are even more convinced that what we are doing here is a good thing.

Here are some links to the studies done linking pesticides with ADHD:

I Remember When Green Was Normal

We recently received an email that we thought was very thought provoking in a nostalgic sort of way and thought you may enjoy it as well.  We’ve included the entire email in a separate blog post here.  But here’s how it starts…

It’s All About the Green Thing

In the line at the store, the cashier told the older woman that plastic bags weren’t good for the environment. The woman apologized to her and explained, “We didn’t have the green thing  back in my day.”

That’s right, they didn’t have the green thing in her day. Back then, they returned their milk bottles, Coke bottles and beer bottles to the store. The store sent them back to the plant to be washed and sterilized and refilled, using the same bottles over and over. So they really were recycled. But they didn’t have the green thing back her day.

In her day, they walked up stairs, because they didn’t have an escalator in every store and office building. They walked to the grocery store and didn’t climb into a 300-horsepower machine every time they had to go two blocks. But she’s right. They didn’t have the green thing in her day.
