(Asclepias tuberosa) Has been used to treat respitatory ailments in both Native American and domestic American cultures. This root is an expectorant and helps to expel phlegm from the bronchial and nasal passages. Also known to have antispasmodic properties as the dried and powdered root was administered to cure infant colic. Has also been used as a tea to cure pneumonia.
